
The
EIC Program is designed with the aim of equipping HSU students to:
- Use English confidently and effectively in various everyday settings;
- Use English effectively in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural working environment;
- Use English effectively to pursue academic study internationally.
After this course, students’ English competence will be at CEFR B1 level as follows: |

Listening |
Can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, and leisure; understand the main points of radio or TV programs on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest when the delivery is relatively slow and clear. |
Speaking |
Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken, can enter unprepared into conversation on topics that are familiar, of personal interests, connect phrases in a simple way to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions, narrate a story or relate a plot of a book or film and describe their reactions. |
Reading |
Can understand texts that consist mainly of high frequency every day or job-related language, understand the description of events, feelings and wishes in personal letters |
Writing |
Can write a paragraph about an interesting person that they know, their favorite sport including sentences with subordinating conjunctions: because, after, before, when and if. |
