The course will provide learners with a critical understanding of ICT in language teaching and learning. Specifically, this course will introduce learners to a wide range of e-tools which can be used to enhance the quality of language teaching and learning. Learners will be able to examine not only the theoretical underpinnings of these e-tools but also their practical applications in the language classroom. Many task-based activities will hone learners’ creativity in developing and implementing ICT in language teaching and learning contexts.

The course aims to:

1.

Provide learners with a critical understanding of the language learner, the changing learning environment, and constructivist pedagogy;

2.

Introduce learners to many e-tools and e-resources to enhance classroom-based language teaching and learning;

3.

Develop learners’ ability to examine both theoretical underpinnings and practical implications of various facilitative tools in language teaching; and

4.

Encourage learners to appropriately integrate ICT into their own language classroom.
